Cannon Beach Photography

Scenery

One of the standout features of Cannon Beach is the diversity of backdrops available within a relatively small area. Whether you prefer the rugged coastal scenery, the vast sandy shores, or the iconic Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach caters to a variety of preferences. This versatility allows families to tailor their photoshoot to reflect their unique story and personalities, providing a range of images to choose from. Because of the size of the beach, there are many opportunities to capture intimate moments, without others too close by.

Engaging Environment

Cannon Beach offers more than just stunning scenery – it provides opportunities for families to engage in various activities. From building sandcastles to exploring tide pools or simply enjoying a leisurely stroll along the shore, the beach environment encourages candid moments and genuine smiles. These activities become pro factors for family photoshoots, fostering a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere that translates into authentic and meaningful imagery. Once the sun sets, you also have the option of having a bon fire on the beach – highly recommended and shown below!

Lighting

Cannon Beach is renowned for its magical golden hours during sunrise and sunset. The soft, warm hues cast by the sun create a natural soft atmosphere, adding warmth and radiance to photographs. This lighting enhances the visual appeal of the images and adds a touch of magic to the moments captured. While sunset is one of the most popular times to visit Cannon beach, I actually recommend aiming for sunrise for your photoshoot, as you will have most of the beach to yourself!

Exploring the Beach

Park your car downtown and walk out to the sandy beach to view the famous Haystack Rock. Haystack is 235 feet tall and was formed from lava flow millions of years ago. It’s a popular attraction because of its appearance in movies like The Goonies and Kindergarten Cop!

Just a few miles away is Ecola State Park. If you’re into hiking and exploring, this is a great spot! It offers a few different beaches: Indian Beach, and Crescent Beach. Ecola Point offers views from above the coastline where you can see Haystack Rock and offers picnic facilities, too.
